However, both games feature never-before-seen power-ups for both franchises. Like Kirby’s evolved copy abilities, Mario dawns a unique power-up that allows him to grow into a fired-up and large cat. While the world design isn’t too original in Super Mario 3D World, the levels themselves contain stunning and immaculate visuals. Spyro Reignited Trilogy
Spyro The Dragon has always paired with Crash Bandicoot as a part of Sony’s greatest 3D platforming tag team during the late 90s’. Spyro Reignited Trilogy recaptured the purple dragon’s former glory and is a worthy game to play after you finished your play session of Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Spyro Reignited Trilogy offers more of a challenge, though. Some levels will require you to ponder your attacks and movements precisely. Spyro Reignited Trilogy also offers three games for the price of one and is jam-packed with three intriguing retellings of Spyro’s first few adventures. With that said, Kirby and Spyro both embark on quests that require them to free individuals from the clutches of evil. The difference is that Kirby is saving his former Waddle Dee enemies while Spyro must free his fellow dragons regarding the events of Spyro’s first game. As bonkers as the idea sounds, Luigi’s Mansion was an intriguing launch title for the Nintendo Game Cube. Instead of controlling Nintendo’s famed mascot Mario, players must now play as his wimpy brother Luigi. Furthermore, Mario is placed in the “damsel in distress” role instead of Princess Peach, adding to the game’s quirky and original nature. Although Luigi saves Mario in the first Luigi’s Mansion game, he’d have to repeat the process again in his third venture. Like Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Luigi’s Mansion 3 takes an entirely new approach to combat than previous titles by introducing more open environments, new ghost-like abilities and enemies, and puzzles for Luigi to solve. Like Kirby, Luigi won’t be alone on his adventure in Luigi’s Mansion 3. In this game, he’ll be accompanied by a new gooey-like companion named Gooigi created by Professor Elvin Gadd (E. Gadd for short). This companion opens the door to many unique and inventive ways of solving puzzles and defeating enemies in the game. Furthermore, the visuals in this game are immaculate and breathtaking. The Mario characters in this game have never looked better and are full of life in this title. Rayman 2: The Great Escape
Rayman 2: The Great Escape is one of the best 3D Platformers of all time. This game promises up to forty hours of non-stop fun, wonder, and excitement. This game features Ubisoft’s mascot fighting menacing pirates to save allies. Along the way, Rayman will attain many unique power-ups to help him combat his foes. Like Kirby and the Forgotten Land, this game delivers beautiful visuals, diverse worlds, catchy soundtracks, and well-integrated gameplay mechanics. Rayman’s also capable of flying, swimming, and jumping in this game. Each level and map is jam-packed with secrets and details for players to discover and immerse themselves in. Although Rayman hasn’t been participating in any grand adventures since his third installment, this game is a phenomenal relic that platformer fans need to play.
A Hat in Time
A Hat in Time is a wonderful 3D platformer that promises endless amounts of charm and excitement. This game feels like an homage to classic 3D platformer mascots like Microsoft’s Banjo Kazooie and Nintendo’s Mario. With its incredibly imaginative worlds, lovable female protagonists, and astounding soundtrack, this is an indie title everyone needs to play. In this game, you take control of a game named Hat Kid who runs into trouble when fuel for her ship is lost and scattered across a nearby planet. As Hat Kid, you must travel across several diverse locations to retrieve your Time Pieces (the fuel for your spaceship) back from evildoers. Like Kirby and the Forgotten Land, each level in A Hat In Time is visually appealing and full of life. Each world Hat Kid traverses is full of life and its inhabitants usher a similar degree of activity. The bosses in A Hat In Time offer a similar degree of challenge, but nothing too difficult. This game also offers an incredible degree of customization options that allow players to forge a unique experience with it. New Super Lucky’s Tale
New Super Lucky’s Tale is an underrated 3D platform game. This is a remake of the original Super Lucky’s Tale that was released on Xbox One and PC in 2017. This “new” version of the game features a reworked story, an expanded character cast, a fully rotatable camera, renamed hub worlds, and some included DLC worlds and stages. As one can tell, New Super Lucky’s Tale is the preferred way to experience this fox’s fantastical adventure. Like Kirby and the Forgotten Land, the levels in this game are fun to explore and glance at. There are incredible details and secrets hidden in the game that are worth discovering, too. This is an excellent homage to classic 3D platform games of the late 90s and early 2000s. New Super Lucky’s Tale follows Lucky on his exhilarating quest through the Book of Ages, a magical item that opens doors to visually appealing worlds. Lucky will make new allies and explore exciting landscapes while recovering the Book of Ages’s missing pages from an evil sorcerer named Jinx and his family. With its thousands of items to collect and memorable cast, New Super Lucky’s Tale is a hidden gem everyone needs to give a chance.
Yoshi’s Crafted World
Kirby’s not the only adorable mascot Nintendo has under its sleeve. Yoshi is one of Nintendo’s best dinosaurs that continues to delight fans with his remarkable personality and cutesy mannerisms. Despite assisting Mario on his quest to retrieve Princess Peach from Bowser, Yoshi’s undergone his own 2D and 3D endeavors. Yoshi’s Crafted World is one of them. This game offers a visually mesmerizing world on par with the locales you traverse in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Yoshi’s Crafted World feels more adorable and cutesy, though. This is due to the game’s yarn and cardboard-like aesthetic, making everything feel more childlike and graceful. Nonetheless, the gameplay is fun and delightful. Yoshi’s Crafted World features Yoshi traversing areas in a typical side-scrolling fashion. However, there are several moments sprinkled in the game where you can interact with his environment in the third dimension. Essentially, Yoshi can throw eggs at enemies in the foreground and background. He can also traverse certain levels in the third dimension, too. Otherwise, the gameplay is similar to other Yoshi titles, where you scoop enemies up using his elongated tongue abilities. Nintendo fans looking for another visually engaging and atmospheric experience should give Yoshi’s Crafted World a shot.
