Taking us on a trip through the world of progressive trance, deep house and teasing vocal melodies, Worldwide 07 is a therapeutic journey into the world of underground dance music. After a chord-driven intro, the album begins with the beautifully chilled Rivers by Nadien. From here, Grum takes us on a melodic journey through the world of progressive trance and house, peppering the tracks with dreamy vocals and synth sounds whilst increasing the tempo slightly the longer the album goes on. There’s a good variety on content here too, with Grum’s own productions along with Spencer Brown, Dirty South and Oliver Smith all making an appearance here. Long, drawn out mixing is harmonically placed throughout the album too, with one song blending seamlessly into the next whilst increasing in tempo and drive the longer the mix goes on. The latter stages are much closer to the traditional Anjunabeat sound many may be accustomed to but the first half feels much more like an Anjunadeep mix. While this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, those looking for something more euphoric or synth driven may be left wanting. Anjunabeats Worldwide 07 is an impressive entry on the Anjuna label, packed full of dreamy, melodic tracks and progressive beats perfect to chill to. There’s a hint of deep house layered throughout the mix with the latter portion more closely aligned to the traditional Anjunabeat sound. Grum is certainly an artist to watch though and although this may not be as euphoric or memorable as other Worldwide CDs, there’s enough here to make for a beautifully driven album and one well worth listening to.
