What is Bocchi the Rock Season 1 about?
Bocchi the Rock centers on a socially awkward girl called Hitori Gotou. Lonely and yearning to make friends, Hitori finds salvation in playing the guitar. One fateful day she meets outgoing drummer Nijika Ijichi who invites her to join Kessoku Band when their guitarist flees before the first show. Despite a subpar first performance, the girls are empowered by their shared love for music and find happiness in performing, with Bocchi and her teammates finding inspiration in one another as they navigate high school life. Has Bocchi the Rock been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, Bocchi the Rock has not been renewed for a second season. Given the nature of the show’s content, that could well change given how popular this anime is. Generally CloverWorks would gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it, looking at fan reaction and then examining the drop-off rate. Furthermore, manga sales and how much of the manga has been adapted are also taken into consideration. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly. Other times, it can take months before a final decision is made over the show’s future. So far, Bocchi the Rock has had a really good reaction from audiences and critics alike, with most commenting on both the story and the vibes this series gives off. Given the way this show is set up, there’s definitely potential for a sequel, however it may not happen for a while. CloverWorks also have My Dress-Darling Season 2, along with Rascal Does Not Dream Of Bunny Girl Senpai Season 2 on the cards, which both went into production back in September 2022. What we know about season 2 so far:
Barely anything is known about season 2 at this point, given CloverWorks have not green-lit a sequel. However the manga doesn’t have masses of material to work with and CloverWorks are a bit infamous for their projects, which can veer off into the realm of absolutely ridiculous endings. (Hello Promised Neverland Season 2) It would seem likely that the story would continue to focus on socially anxious Bocchi and her friends, with their Kessoku Band, taking on rivals SIDEROS. As mentioned above, we predict that this will be renewed so we’re hoping it’s just a matter of time before we get confirmation.
