There’s certainly a lot to like with this one, and the cliffhanger ending may have you wondering if a sequel has been green-lit.
What is Savage Beauty about?
Savage Beauty is a melodramatic, soapy series that focuses on the hierarchical family overseeing a beauty company called Bhengu Beauty. Zinhle has just become the new face of the company but she has some serious issues with Don, the patriarch. She sets out to get her revenge. What begins as a simple revenge thriller soon balloons into all manner of soapy drama, including sordid affairs, romance, gangsters and a criminal underbelly lurking in the shadows. It’s a crazy series and Savage Beauty packs a lot into its 6 episodes – even if it is absolutely ladled with clichés. Has Savage Beauty been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, Savage Beauty has not been renewed for a second season. Given the ending though, that could well change. After all, Blood and Water (another African Original) has been renewed for two seasons. Not only that but (at the time of writing!) Blood Sisters is currently trending on UK Netflix at number 8 so there’s no reason why Savage Beauty won’t do the same. Generally Netflix gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly (ala. Squid Game, Bridgerton & Irregulars) Other times, it can take months before Netflix make a decision over a show’s future. So far, Savage Beauty has had a pretty good reception from both critics and audiences alike, although some people have criticized the show for a bit of a light story. Based on the ending and the mixed reception from audiences, we’re going out on a limb and predicting that Savage Beauty will be renewed for a second season. We’ll be sure to update this section with accurate details over the coming weeks and months when we know more!
What we know about season 2 so far:
Barely anything is known about season 2 at this point, given Netflix have not green-lit a sequel. The conclusion does open things up for a follow-up though. If this one is renewed, expect the story to pick right up where we left off, with Zinhle thrown right in the deep end following what happened to Don. It could well be that she teams up with Phila to finish the job she started. This would work as a nice little twist and also consistently develop his character as he works to elevate Grace into the spot of CEO. But will Zinhle’s revenge extend across to Grace as well? And what of Linda? How will she play into this? We’ll have to wait and see for now. We’ll be sure to update this page in the future when more information is known though!
