What is Everything Everywhere All At Once about?
The movie stars Michelle Yeoh as Evelyn Wong, a Chinese American woman whose life is far from easy. Not only does she have to face up to the IRS who is auditing her taxes, but she also has to deal with a disapproving father and a failing marriage. This is all stressful enough for Evelyn but when she discovers the existence of the multiverse and the part that she has to play in saving it before the fabric of time ruptures, her life becomes even more difficult and complicated. To say any more would move this article into spoiler territory (and we would wrap ourselves up in plot complications), but if you would like to know more about the movie, check out our review and then watch it yourself if you haven’t done so already. You won’t be disappointed!
Will there be an Everything Everywhere All At Once 2?
Writing-directing duo Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, the talented people behind Swiss Army Man and Everything Everywhere All At Once, have not confirmed official plans for a sequel. However, in a discussion about a sequel in an interview with Newsweek, Kwan said: If they explore this universe and don’t find a reason for a sequel, they could always explore the multiverse as plans could already be afoot in a parallel dimension for a sequel to happen. But as far as we know at this stage, a second movie has not been given the green light yet. And despite the quoted comment, it’s possible that a sequel won’t happen as, elsewhere online, the directors have seemingly shot down rumours suggesting the idea. Still, if we don’t get to see a sequel in this universe, we could bend time and space to see if there is a follow-up movie elsewhere. Sadly, we have not yet learned how to break open the fabric of time but if we do, we will let you know what we find on the other side of our reality!
What could happen in the sequel?
One-half of the directorial duo has already hinted at a sequel idea when speaking in an interview with Edgar Wright but it shouldn’t be taken seriously. Kwan said: That isn’t a bad idea for a sequel but as Kwan was joking, we shouldn’t base potential plotlines around this. So, what could the sequel be about? Well, it’s hard to say. It could be centered around Evelyn and her family again, with further adventures in the multiverse, but as their story was tied up neatly at the end of the first movie, it might be that another character gets to experience a reality-bending experience in the same way that Evelyn did. However, we think a sequel is a bad idea. The first movie is close to perfection and there is no need for a follow-up so unless Kwan and Scheinert can improve on what has come before, they should move on and focus their creative talents elsewhere.

But as the trailer isn’t available in this reality, you will have to travel through a thousand different universes if you want to see it. We are joking, of course… or so we think!
